The FIFA Council has unanimously chosen the joint bid from Morocco to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. This will mark the first time the tournament will be hosted across three continents, with neighboring countries Spain and Portugal joining Morocco in hosting matches.
Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay Get Commemorative Games in Historic Celebration
As part of the centenary celebrations for the World Cup, three games will be played in Uruguay, where the inaugural tournament was held in 1930. Argentina and Paraguay will also host matches in recognition of the rich footballing history of South America.
Tournament Expansion and Format
The 2030 World Cup will feature an expanded 48-team format, up from the current 32-team format. The tournament will be divided into 16 groups of three teams, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout stage.
