The Celtics were led by Jaylen Brown, who scored 29 points and tied his career-high in the playoffs with eight rebounds. Jayson Tatum added 27 points and 10 rebounds. The Celtics' defense held the Mavericks to just 38.9% shooting from the field and forced 15 turnovers.
The Mavericks were led by Luka Dončić, who had 26 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. However, Dončić struggled with his shot, finishing 10-of-26 from the field. The Mavericks also got 20 points from Spencer Dinwiddie.
The game was close for most of the first half, but the Celtics took control in the third quarter. The Celtics went on a 12-0 run to start the third quarter and took a 12-point lead. The Mavericks never got closer than eight points the rest of the way.
The Celtics can clinch the NBA championship in Game 3 on Wednesday night. The game will be played in Boston at TD Garden.
