Keir Starmer's Parliamentary Career
About Keir Starmer
Keir Starmer has represented the constituency of Holborn and St Pancras since 2015. He is currently the Member of Parliament for Holborn and St Pancras in the House of Commons. Parliament has been dissolved for a General Election on 4 July, so Starmer is not currently an MP.
The seat was held from 1983 to 2015 by Frank Dobson of the Labour Party, who had previously been the Member of Parliament for Holborn and St Pancras South from 1979 to 1983.
Parliamentary Career
Starmer was first elected to Parliament in 2015. He was appointed Shadow Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union in 2016, and served in that role until 2017. He was then appointed Shadow Secretary of State for Justice, and served in that role until 2018.
In 2018, Starmer was elected as the Leader of the Labour Party. He is the first person to hold that position since Jeremy Corbyn lost the 2019 general election.
