Charles Cyphers, best known for his role as 'Sheriff Leigh Brackett' in John Carpenter's 1978 horror classic 'Halloween', has died at the age of 85.
The actor's manager, Chris Roe, confirmed his death but did not disclose the cause or other details.
Cyphers appeared in nearly 100 film and television roles throughout his career, including 'The Fog' (1980), 'Escape from New York' (1981), 'Psycho II' (1983), and 'The Lost Boys' (1987).
He reprised his role as Sheriff Brackett in 'Halloween II' (1981) and 'Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers' (1988).
Cyphers also had memorable roles in 'The Nature of the Beast' (1995), 'The X-Files' (1993), and 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' (2000).
His last credited role was in the 2017 short film 'The Old Man and the Studio'.
