Wolves boss O'Neil offers fresh hope to Saiss after injury scare
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Paul O'Neil has offered fresh hope to Romain Saiss after the defender was forced off with an injury in the first half of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion.
Saiss was forced off with a hamstring injury after just 27 minutes of the match at Molineux.
The Moroccan international has been a key player for Wolves this season, making 23 appearances in all competitions, and his absence would be a major blow to the team.
O'Neil, however, is hopeful that the injury is not as serious as first feared.
Speaking after the match, the Wolves boss said: "Romain felt something in his hamstring, so we took him off as a precaution. We'll have to assess him over the next few days, but we're hopeful that it's not too serious."
If Saiss is ruled out, it would be a major blow to Wolves' hopes of finishing in the top half of the Premier League table.
The defender has been in excellent form this season, and his experience and leadership would be missed.
However, O'Neil is confident that Wolves have the squad depth to cope with Saiss's absence.
The Wolves boss said: "We have a good squad with a lot of quality, so we're confident that we can cope with Romain's absence. We have other players who can come in and do a job for us."
